A Little Ayurveda From Samantha
Updated: May 10, 2021
Considered the sister science of Yoga with teachings over 5000 years old originating from India, Ayurveda teaches us how to live.
What is Ayurveda?
The term Ayurveda means the "Science of Life" and its main goal is how to live without any symptoms or disease.
The teachings are over 5 000 years old and originate from India.
We learn how to live with the laws of nature and the laws of cause and effect. It's to take responsibility for our health, and there is no blaming others for our health.
This responsibility has incredible power for personal growth and well being.
What we practice is unconditional self-love.
That's where we can find peace, prosperity, fulfilment and happiness.
Ultimately what Yoga and Ayurveda teach us is that the more we create stillness within the mind, the more we slow down disharmony and disease within the body.
What brought You to Ayurveda?
When I was recovering from bunion surgery, I watched TV and came across a guy named Yogi Cameron. He had a show called "A Model Guru".
As the name Yogi intrigued me, what I watched was profound and made absolute sense.
He healed people with the laws of nature. Someone that had allergies was to have a bit more pepper in their diet, sun gazing and washing the nose the saltwater.
Another person that suffered from back pain was to sleep on the floor and not sleep on this cushiony bed that didn't support the spine.
Someone who had insomnia didn't realize having all 10 of her animals sleeping in the bed increased movement within the mind.
The fact that he was able to heal people with nature, Yoga, meditation and ultimately just being mindful of the surroundings was amazing to me. As soon as I watched this series, I knew Ayurveda was a calling for me.
I wanted to be an Ayurvedic practitioner, just like Yogi Cameron. I always thought I had to go to India directly for this training, but I soon learned I could take my training online, and I'm about to start my internship in a couple of months.
